Attend this annual event during the legislative session to educate statewide decision-makers about city priorities and push the city agenda forward.

  • Advocate for your city, and all cities, with a single, unified voice.
  • Engage in the state’s policy development and budget process.
  • Discover how the legislative process works and how you can help shape a bill.
  • Learn about AWC’s priorities and the points you need to communicate to your legislators.
  • Hear from legislative and executive branch leaders to share your city story and get answers to your questions.

Rally around critical issues

The key to growing strong cities and towns in Washington starts with addressing housing shortages and affordability, helping individuals with mental health and drug addiction issues, and providing tools to enhance local economic vitality. Come to Olympia in January to rally around our 2018 City Priorities. Collectively we need tell the Legislature to:

  • Strengthen city tools to address housing conditions in our communities.
  • Direct funds to mental health, chemical dependency, and social safety net programs.
  • Enhance economic development tools and programs that foster business development in cities.
  • Preserve state-shared revenues with cities and increase law enforcement training funds.

Additionally, you’ll learn about cities’ authority on locally controlling cellular facilities, hear if state-shared revenues with cities are at risk, and discover how a carbon tax initiative might provide new revenue for cities. You won’t want to miss this opportunity to network with peers, meet and greet with legislators, and make a difference in your community at the state level.
