The AWC Board Nominating Committee met April 7 to compile a list of officer and director candidates for the AWC Board of Directors. AWC’s two public records bills have made it through the Senate
AWC’s priority bills, HB 1594 and HB 1595, have been voted on and made it out of the Senate. The bills are among AWC’s top priorities this session and deal with changes to the state’s Public Records Act. Due to the bills being amended in the Senate, they must now get approval by the House before heading to the Governor’s Office. More

Attorney General issues guidance for local governments on immigration enforcement
Washington’s Attorney General Bob Ferguson released guidance for local governments about the immigration rights of Washington residents. The guidance addresses local jurisdictions' interactions when responding to federal authorities about immigration. More

DHS FEMA assistance to firefighters & fire prevention and safety grants
Department of Homeland Security Federal Emergency Management Assistance announced a $1.5 million grant program for activities designed to mitigate death and injuries caused by fire hazards and for research and development activities that improve firefighter safety. Application deadline is May 19. More

Transportation Improvement Board Emergency Pavement Repair Program
The Transportation Improvement Board (TIB) recently approved an Emergency Pavement Repair Program. Cities under 5,000 in population or with an assessed value of less than $2 billion are eligible to receive grants for up to $50,000. Application deadline is May 31. More
