Senate proposed budget released
The Washington State Senate Majority Coalition Caucus released their proposed budget for 2017-19. State-shared revenues remain essentially intact—thanks for your hard work and diligent communications with legislators! However, it is not all good news. You should communicate your concerns with the proposed shift of $60 million of the state’s LEOFF 2 pension costs to cities. Find out the positive and negative impacts of this proposed budget.

Stormwater Action Monitoring (SAM) effectiveness studies workshop

Learn about eight proposals under consideration for a second round of stormwater permittee-funded effectiveness studies. Following the workshop, permittees will vote to rank projects. The Stormwater Work Group (SWG) will use the ranking in June to help decide which projects to fund. Ten studies were funded in the first round and one is already complete. More

New report outlines needs, benefits of federal infrastructure investment
AWC has joined a coalition of Washington State organizations representing counties, ports and private-sector businesses to make the case to the new administration and Congress that Washington is a wise choice for federal infrastructure investment. Building the Economy: Infrastructure Needs in Washington was released on Monday. Association executives spoke with representatives of Washington’s congressional delegation and will hold in-person meetings in April. Read the media release. Check out #BuildWA twitter activity.
