SB 6143, Sen. Dean Takko (R-Kelso), passed the Senate unanimously Wednesday evening, February 7.

Bill would set disclosure requirements for utility bills

SB 6587 would require cities to disclose on utility bills an “itemized listing of all rates and charges, including the amount of state and local taxes collected and paid by the city or town, and whether taxes are collected on behalf of other political subdivisions.”

Bill would allow for sewer extensions in rural areas for economic development

SB 6516 specifies that cities may extend storm and sanitary sewer systems in rural areas for allowed uses or in those limited circumstances, to protect basic public health and safety, protect the environment, or encourage economic development by designing and sizing the sewer line so that it may serve only particular structures and not intervening lands.

Bill to allow cities to utilize unit-priced contracts up for public hearing

A city-supported bill, SB 6143, Sen. Dean Takko (D-Kelso), has been scheduled for public hearing in the Senate Local Government Committee on Tuesday, January 16 at 1:30 pm.

Cities oppose bill that would add new reporting requirements on public works projects

HB 2407, Rep. Jacquelin Maycumber (R-Republic), has introduced a bill that would require cities to report to the Legislature when a contractor uses materials purchased out-of-state.

"State bank" task force to produce report by the end of the year

The 2017 Legislature established a task force on public infrastructure and a publicly-owned depository to explore the scope of financial needs for local governments for constructing public infrastructure and to examine the feasibility of creating a publicly-owned depository, i.e. “state bank.”
